A Club Update (...then again, what do I know?)

Ask her.
(PERNS) - I thought I'd let all the Hammer Heads in on the recent happenings of everything surrounding the Club. If you read anything that spurs on any questions in your head, grab a pen, write down your questions, put the pen down, rip the sheet of paper in half, and throw it in the garbage.

My answer to every question you will have is, "I dunno...ask them (now picture a finger pointing to the person nearest you)".

In soccer, the inaugural CISL season is almost at an end, and the playoffs are only two weeks away. The Poskoci clinched first place in the standings last week with a 5-3 win over Tvrdi Kamen. The game also marked an unbelievable milestone in which J.J. Grubisic scored four times which makes him a 50-goal warrior...and yeah, that's only in 19 games. Also, the second leading scorer Ivan Grubisic has bolted for the Canadian army. There are five chicks in his platoon and only two are decent looking, but they both shaved their heads. When asked about it, Cousin Iv

e replied, "What the hell is that?" And with Ive in the reserves, he'll more than likely miss most, if not all, of the upcoming 'A' Team's outdoor season.

Which is the perfect segue - the 'A' Team has began mandatory training sessions every Monday night at "The Blitz" on 298 Grays Road in Stoney Creek. 'A'

Team goaltender Chris Tournidis is also the owner of the gym, and has graciously opened his doors to the team. All players and guys trying out are encouraged to do the workouts - we'll need you in shape before actual ball-training begins.

The 'B' Team has also started indoor practices on Thursday nights at 10 p.m. at the Mountain Sports Complex (home of the CISL). Get a hold of Coach Glazer for more info...you can PM him through the FORUM (he goes by user name "robbie"). And staying with the 'B' Team, a huge thanks goes to Tom Palisak who scored a sponsorship for the team from the CIBC. He's not even part of the team, but took it upon himself to give us a hand and we truly appreciate his efforts.

As far as events are concerned, we've got a stag coming up on Friday, March 17th, followed by the Annual General Meeting on Sunday the 19th. Our banquet date is already set for November 4th. We know it's a little early, but this way we figure we can get tickets out to all the teams DURING their seasons instead of at the end of them.

On the website I've regularly tried to add photos, videos, stories, pics of the month, and I've also updated the soccer rankings (well, just before February started anyways). It's a time-consuming job, but I try to take pride in it.

At the Club (if you haven't been by in a while) we've just had new flooring installed. This comes following all the work that was done earlier in 2005. The place looks pretty good now, stop in any time after 6 p.m. during the week to check it out!

Also, the pres has been in contact with Place Polonaise and is currently working on a "BASH @ the BEACH" schedule. Hopefully that can be sorted out soon.

More things you'll be hearing about soon (and often)...the annual Golf Tournament, the Junior Soccer Tournament in Milwaukee, and the Labour Day Tournament in Florida - STAY TUNED.
